Two arrests over garage break-ins

TWO men have been arrested after 10 garages were broken into in Washington.

The break-ins happened overnight between Sunday and yesterday in the Glebe Crescent and Hill Rise areas of the town.

Two men, aged 20 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary. They were being quizzed by police last night.

Stolen items including tools, bikes, jewellery and a mobility scooter have been recovered.

Inspector Paul Stewart, of Washington police, said: “I’d like to remind residents to ensure they are vigilant and consider installing deterrents such as an alarm, security lighting or CCTV.”
