Two arrested after driver, 50, dies in hit-and-run smash in Shotton Colliery

A man has died in a hit-and-run incident in east Durham.

A black BMW 320 was involved in a collision with a Seat Ibiza on Salters Lane, Shotton Colliery at 11.44am today.

Sadly the 50-year-old driver of the Seat Ibiza died at the scene.

The driver of the BMW plus a passenger left the incident before police officers arrived.

However, following enquiries, a 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and are being interviewed by detectives.
