TRIBUTES have been paid to a 14-year-old boy who has died.

Shane Michael Dolan, a pupil at St Aidan’s School, in Ashbrooke, was found at his Fulwell home on Sunday and taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital, where his death was confirmed.

In a statement from his school, headteacher Stephen Hammond said: “Shane was a popular, fun and vibrant student who really enjoyed school.

“He had a flair for cookery and a passion for sport. He will be greatly missed by students and staff alike.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Tuesday, with an inquest opened into his death the following day.

It was adjourned to allow for reports and tests to be completed, with a full hearing to be held at a future date.

Police and the coroner’s office have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Shane’s funeral will be held at All Saints’ Church, in Fulwell Road, at noon on Thursday.

His family are welcoming flowers, which can be sent to Manor House Funeral Services, in Sea Road, by 11am on the day, with donations in lieu to be sent to a charity of choice.
