Stuart Price from Murton, died after being involved in a collison with a black Jaguar car in Colliery Lane, next to the junction with Murton Lane, near Easington Lane, at about 10.25am on Sunday.

Yesterday, floral tributes and Sunderland shirts were left at the roadside where the 24-year-old lost his life.

Lauren Johnson, said she hopes her photo "gives his family comfort knowing how loved he was."

The driver of the Jaguar, who stopped at the scene of the collision, was not injured but was left very shaken by the incident.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances around the collision and police are now appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

At the time of the incident Mr Price was wearing a Boyle Sports Sunderland AFC football shirt and blue adidas trainers with white stripes.

He was riding a distinctive white Lapierre full suspension mountain bike.
