Trial begins of men accused of murdering Tipu Sultan
The trial is due to begin today of two men charged with the murder of a Sunderland dad shot at his South Tyneside business.
Tipu Sultan, 32, from Millfield, was gunned down outside his family takeaway Herbs & Spice, in Lake Avenue, South Shields, last April.
Today, Michael McDougal, 47, of Hylton Avenue, and Michael Stephen Mullen, 24, of Hawthorne Avenue, both South Shields, will appear in Newcastle Crown Court for the first day of the trial.
Both deny the charges.
