6.40pm: Problems on the Metro.

A train has been withdrawn from service at Pelaw due to a fault. 

There is a gap in the service of up to 30 mins to trains running between Pelaw and South Hylton.

Please leave extra time for your journey if you're travelling in the area.

5.55pm: Testo's is still causing problems

Traffic is queuing on the A184 Newcastle Road through the roadworks eastbound, with a travel time of  13 minutes.

There are also queues in both directions on the A184 Newcastle Road , with a seven-minute wait to get through the roadworks.

4.20pm: All still seems fairly quiet, apart form the usual delays at Testo's.

Just a reminder the A1(M) Northbound will be closed due to roadworks from J62 with the A690 (Carrville) to J63 with the A167 (Chester-Le-Street)from 9pm tonight to 6am tomorrow.

3.10pm: Kevin taking over the blog for the next few hours.

And the good news is, everything looks pretty clear on the roads and public transport.

2.15pm: Mystery of 29 dumped SNAKES in Sunderland leaves residents puzzled

29 snakes were found dumped in Sunderland

Residents living near to a where 29 snakes were discovered in the same place over two days have been left puzzled by the unusual finds.

On Thursday, February 13, 13 royal pythons were found in a Buzz Lightyear pillowcase in a bin near Farringdon Community Fire station on North Moor Lane. One later died.

This is the terrifying and dangerous driving of a 25-year-old whose ‘erratic behaviour’ in a bid to evade capture could have killed someone.

Uninsured Lewis Nesbitt, 25, refused to pull over his Vauxhall Corsa as he tore down streets near Houghton-le-Spring on the morning of September 5 last year.

11.56am: Investigation launched after yobs smash windows of TWO buses with passengers on board in Houghton

A police investigation has been launched after yobs smashed the windows of TWO buses during a run of attacks in Houghton on Monday night.

Pictures of the damage to one of the buses were shared by Northumbria Police after thugs threw stones as the bus carried passengers through the town.

It has now been revealed that windows of two buses were smashed while they travelled through the Church Street areas of the town on Monday, February 17, evening.

10.36am: Delays on northbound Tyne Tunnel entrance due to broken down vehicle

Traffic has come to a standstill entering the Tyne Tunnel due to a broken down LGV. 

Traffic is expected to be moving again shortly. 

10.29am: Washington 'monster incinerator' planning appeal hearing at Sunderland's Stadium of Light

A planning hearing over the rejected bid for a controversial gasification plant in Wearside is taking place at the Stadium of Light.

Developers are hoping to overturn councillors’ decision to refuse planning permission for what they say is a ‘tried and tested’ technology which would help power Nissan and boost Sunderland’s economy.
