Road reopen after incident near Durham viaduct

Police partially closed a road after an incident underneath a landmark crossing.

Durham Constabulary closed North Road, in Durham City, at around lunchtime today, Wednesday March 25.

A cordon was in place at the roundabout with the A690, where the road passes underneath the Durham railway viaduct.

Several police cars and vans were on the scene and a scene tent had also been set up, but officers have not confirmed the reason for their presence.

Durham County Council tweeted to say the road was closed, and Go North East reported impact on bus services, but the road is now reopen.
