Police say a road has been closed following a collision involving one car in Sunderland

Police have been called to a one-vehicle road traffic accident in Sunderland.

Officers were called out at around 3.30pm on Sunday, January 19 to reports of an incident on Spelter Works Road in Sunderland.

The road is currently blocked, with a number of cars turning around at the scene.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “We were called at 3.24pm to reports of a one-vehicle accident.

“The road is still blocked while the vehicle is awaiting recovery.”

Police confirmed that no one was injured.
