Metro cancels services in Sunderland and South Tyneside

Operator Nexus has withdrawn a total of four trains from operation this afternoon and evening.

The company says a lack of drivers is to blame and is urging travellers to allow extra time for their journeys.

The affected services are:

12.46pm South Gosforth – Airport12.52pm Airport – South Hylton2.01pm South Hylton – Airport3.16pm Airport – South Gosforth

Train 2

5.42pm South Shields – North Shields6.51pm North Shields – South Gosforth

Train 3

7.56pm South Gosforth – Airport8.24pm Airport – South Hylton9.37pm South Hylton – South Gosforth

Train 4

8.56pm South Gosforth – Airport9.24pm Airport – South Hylton10.37pm South Hylton – South Gosforth
