A family coach company is on the route to growth after moving into new offices.

Hetton-based Dover’s Coaches was the dream of Albert and Murial Dover and began operation in 1960 from their home, with just one coach and driver.

It was a pleasure to assist the Dover family in the acquisition of their new office space and change in partnership agreement.

Now, the firm’s nine-strong team has a fleet of four coaches, with three generations of the Dover family at the helm, and specialises in providing coach and driver services for group travel, excursions and school trips, in the UK and abroad.

Following strong business growth, Albert and Muriel’s sons Les, 52, and 49-year-old Terry and grandson Karl, 30, turned to the Core team at Gordon Brown Law Firm LLP (GBLF) to secure a new home on the town’s Pearson’s Industrial Estate.

“We enlisted the help of GBLF on recommendation from a friend, in connection with the purchase of our new unit as a result of the growth of the business,” said Karl.

“With the assistance of Joy Heron in particular, we also realised that it was time to update our partnership agreement for the firm now that my dad, uncle and I have taken over the reins from my grandad.

“Throughout the whole process we were expertly supported by GBLF’s Core team, and I couldn’t fault our experience. As an SME, it was a great feeling knowing we were in safe hands with GBLF’s guidance and knowledge.

“Strong family values are at the heart of our company and GBLF really understood this. As the firm has passed through the generations, I hope that this family tradition can continue, with my son Thomas coming on board one day, carrying on my grandad’s legacy.”

Solicitor Gwen Jones, head of the Core team, said: “It was a pleasure to assist the Dover family in the acquisition of their new office space and change in partnership agreement.

“Joy really got to know Karl and the business to ensure that in going forward Dover’s Coaches could focus on its continued growth knowing that they were protected by a new partnership agreement.

“It was great to see that the family had total confidence in the work that Joy and the team carried out in connection with their purchase, often whilst they were busy abroad doing what they do best for their clients.”
