Biker airlifted to hospital after crash in Sunderland

A MOTORCYCLIST has been airflifted to hospital following a smash in a Sunderland street.

It happened in Aline Street in Silksworth just after 2pm today.

The Great North Air Ambulance rushed to the scene, with the biker airlifted to the RVI in Newcastle.

Details of his condition are not yet known.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: “At just after 2.10pm, on Monday, March 2, police received a report from the ambulance service of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Aline Street, Sunderland.

“Officers attended the scene along with the ambulance service.

“The motorcyclist was airlifted to the RVI for treatment.

“The car driver does not appear to have suffered any serious injury.

“This is all the information we have at this time.”
