RAIL services are back on track in Sunderland after being hit by high winds this morning.

Northern Rail said the 6.12am Hexham to Middlesbrough service, which was due to stop at Heworth, Sunderland, Seaham, Hartlepool, Seaton Carew, Billingham and Stockton would no longer call at these stations due to an obstruction on the line.

Services are now running again, and the company has released a picture of the debris on the track.
