Motorists are being warned about delays on the A690 as there will be lane closures for a number of days

Drivers heading north on the A19 are being warned of lane closures this week as they approach junction A690 and delays will be possible during the five days of work.

Drivers heading north on the A19 are being warned of lane closures as work is scheduled to start at 9.30am on Monday, January 13 on approach to the A690 junction for installing a new Variable Message Sign (VMS).

The closures will begin after the Stoneygate junction and delays will be possible during the five days of work.

Work is being timetabled outside of morning peak traffic hours to minimise disruption.

The new VMS sign is part of a wider programme of work to improve and prove traffic information on major approaches to Sunderland.

The A19/A690 roundabout will have further lane restrictions from 8am on Sunday, January 19 for approximately three weeks for utility diversions in the main Improvement Scheme.
