Grand Central suspends all Sunday services as Storm Ciara heads for the UK

Train operator Grand Central has suspended all services between Sunderland and Hartlepool and London this weekend as the country braces itself for Storm Ciara.

The Met Office has issued warnings for wind and rain across the entire UK for Sunday.

A statement said: “Grand Central will not be running any services on Sunday 9th February due to severe weather warnings in place because of Storm Ciara.

“Customers with tickets to travel with Grand Central this weekend are advised to travel on either Saturday 8th February or Monday 10th February and their ticket for Sunday 9th February will still be valid on Grand Central services. There will be no ticket acceptance available with other train operators.

Passengers who do not wish to travel can claim a full refund from their point of purchase.
