Dramatic photographs shows aftermath after fallen tree brings down lamppost and crashes onto car in Sunderland street
A fallen tree has brought down a lamppost and crashed onto a parked car in a Sunderland street.
Council workers are at the scene and have begun clearing away the tree which fell in Moorside Road, in Sunderland.
Northumbria Police received a report shortly after 10am of a fallen tree. No one is reported to have been injured in the incident.
It appears the tree has come crashing down, hitting a lamppost, before landing on a car parked by the side of the road.
The road, which loops around the Moorside estate, is often used as a parking spot by workers at Doxford International Business Park.
Ray Bradshaw, who lives on the estate, says he first saw the fallen tree when he was out walking his dog at around 11am.
He said: “I couldn’t see the car from the far side of the bus stop but it does appear to have hit at least one car.”
