Town End Farm Workingmen’s Club presents Looking Back on Sunday. There will be a £2 cover charge.

Town End Farm Residents’ Association has, over the last three years, been working with ST Bede’s Community Centre to get the building, which ceased to be an official place of worship in 2012, turned over to the community. Finally a management committee has been put in place so all systems go. Some members of the community are not aware that there has always been a small chapel at the back of the church for anyone who feels they would maybe like quiet meditation, or to light a candle in memory of a loved one . We are keeping the Chapel as it is. Hopefully, the church itself will be cleared and turned into a venue for various activities. Meanwhile there are various community activities going on in the building.

TEFRA (Town End Farm Residents’ Association) runs a toddler group onWednesdays and Mondays, in term-time, from 9.30am-noon. Children aged from six month to four years are welcome and sessions cost £1. There is a fenced in grassed play area which was funded by Gentoo last year for the warmer days.

Bingo is held by TEFRA every Tuesday and Thursday in St Bede’s Community Centre. Doors open at 6.30pm with eyes down 7pm. All are welcome.

Jackie, who has been supporting various community events over the last year and who is supported by the Parish of North Wearside, has opened a drop-in on Fridays between 10am-2.30pm, supported by TEFRA committee members. Go along and meet friends, have a quiet moment in the chapel for reflection around 11 to 11.30am. Then 12.30pm onwards you can play card’s, dominoes , or a few games of bingo. All are welcome.

A knit and natter craft group meets every Wednesday between 1pm-3pm. All ages are welcome to go along to take part in all kinds of craft work.

Dog owners are asked to picking up their dog mess especially on the grass around St Bede’s Community Centre. There are quite a few bins on lampposts but if anyone feels their road or street would benefit from a bin to encourage dog owners to pick up, contact me, Jean, on 07961 866232 and I’ll get one for your area. You will need a lamppost number.
