Tottenham Hotspur linked with move for Sunderland star Jordan Pickford

Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford is rumoured to be at the top of Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino's transfer wishlist.

The Spurs manager is reported to be eyeing the England Under-21 international as a replacement for Hugo Lloris.

Fears are growing that Frenchman Lloris could leave White Hart Lane, should the club fail to make next season's Champions League.

The likes of Spanish giants Real Madrid and cash-rich Paris St-Germain are know to be high-profile admirers of former Nice and Lyon man Lloris.

And as a result Pochettino has drawn up a potential list of replacements, should his goalkeeper leave in the summer.

Pickford, 22, is said to be at the head of that list, which also includes England keeper Joe Hart, currently on loan at Torino.

Hart himself was linked with a move to the Stadium of Light last summer, with manager David Moyes admitting recently that he passed up on the chance to bring in the international, prior to his switch to Serie A.

Reports suggest that wages would be the big stumbling block in any move for Hart by the North London outfit, making youngster Pickford a more realistic prospect.

Hart would need to lower his demands from the astronomic weekly wage received at Manchester City for any move to come off.

Pickford's demands are likely to be much lower, and given his sensational form for the Black Cats in the Premier League this campaign, Pochettino is understood to be keen to make a move.

While Sunderland will be reluctant to sell their prized-asset either in January or the summer, it is likely that, given his recent performances and elevation to the full England setup, that bids are inevitable for the Washington-born star.
