THREE women were taken to hospital after their cars collided at roadworks.
The Jaguar X-Type, Nissan Juke and Honda Jazz crashed at the temporary traffic lights on the A182 between the Murton interchange off the A19 and Dawdon, near to the Fox Cover Industrial Estate on the outskirts of Seaham.
The emergency services were called to the scene at 11.15am today.
Firefighters from Seaham and Peterlee offered first aid to the drivers, who all suffered back and neck injuries, and ensured the vehicles were not at risk of catching fire.
All three women were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment by ambulance.
