Three in sea rescue

LIFEBOAT volunteers were called out to rescue a stranded pleasure boat.

 Sunderland RNLI were alerted shortly before 3.30pm yesterday to assist the 15ft craft with mechanical problems.

 Paul Nicholson, senior helmsman at Sunderland RNLI, said: “After locating the vessel, we transferred one of our volunteers onboard before taken it in tow.

 “The stricken boat and its three man crew, from Sunderland, were all safely returned to shore.”
