Families descended on Seaham tonight as an annual fireworks extravaganza drew in the crowds.
Thousands of people attended the show on Seaham’s seafront, with the fireworks supplemented by other entertainment, including fairground rides.
The event was organised by Seaham Town Council, and organisers believe it attracted a bigger crowd than ever before.
Deputy town clerk Paul Fletcher said: “The crowd was bigger than ever and the fireworks were very stylish and spectacular.
"It was a very stylish display which fitted with the music very well, and seemed to go down really well with the crowd.
"It's really difficult to say how many people were there, but it was a huge crowd.
"It just shows how much appetite there is for this event, which gets bigger every year.
"I'm sure everybody, including residents and visitors, appreciated that it is a free event, and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying it.
“It was a great night.”
