ECHO readers have already helped to raise an amazing £2,595 for our Hospice of Hope Appeal.

Our £20,000 campaign in aid of the Grace House children’s hospice was only launched on Monday – and kind-hearted Wearsiders have been quick to show their support by sending and texting in donations.

The total was also boosted by a £1,000 contribution from the Echo.

We’re calling on people across Wearside and Durham to help to make a difference to seriously-ill children by making a donation to the Hospice of Hope Appeal.

We’re also hoping friends, workmates, families and schools will organise events in aid of the Hospice of Hope Appeal – and we’ll feature as many as possible in the Echo.

The money is being raised for a play area at the children’s hospice, which is being built in Southwick, Sunderland.

The park will have specialist equipment, which means youngsters who use Grace House will be able to enjoy playtime with their brothers and sisters.

Families from across the North East will receive vital care and support from the hospice.

l To text a donation to the Hospice of Hope Appeal, text PARK12 followed by the amount you wish to donate (e.g. PARK12 £1) to 70070. Any amount between £1 and £10 can be donated.

Donations can also be made by cheque or postal order, which should be made payable to Northeast Press Ltd – Sunderland Echo Charity Account.

Written on the reverse should be “Grace House Hospice of Hope Appeal”.

Cheques and postal orders can be sent to David Allison, Hospice of Hope Appeal, Sunderland Echo, Echo House, Pennywell Industrial Estate, Sunderland, SR4 9ER.

Tell us about your fund-raising events by contacting David Allison on email: or tel. 501 7137.
