Thief with expensive tastes stole champagne from Sunderland bar

The following cases have been dealt with at Sunderland Magistrates' Court.

Mark Dixon, 39, of Torrens Road, Thorney Close, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to stealing four bottles of champagne worth £295 from the upper floor bar in Port of Call, Park Lane, after entering as a trespasser on August 23, 2015. He was jailed for 60 days and told to pay a victim surcharge of £100.

Stephen Potts, 38, of Trafalgar Road, Sulgrave, Washington, pleaded guilty to stealing an iron, valued at £25.95, in Shiney Row, on December 30, 2015. He was jailed for 14 days and told to pay a victim surcharge of £100.

Callum Richardson, 18, of Toward Road, Hendon, Sunderland, pleaded guilty, jointly with another male, to stealing confectionary worth £15.03 from Tesco Extra on Roker Retail Park, on March 9. He also pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis on the same date and was given a conditional discharge for 12 months. He was also fined £50 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and prosecution costs of £30.

Kyle Nolan, 23, of Tees Terrace, Concord, Washington, pleaded guilty to possession of two wraps of amphetamine on February 24. He was given a conditional discharge for six months and told to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £40.

Thomas Moss, 56, of Front Street, Fence Houses, was found guilty, after a trial, of possession of a bladed article – namely a folding pocket knife – in a public place on March 4. He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £100.

Callum Cairns, 20, of Parkside Crescent, Seaham, pleaded guilty to wilfully obstructing a police officer in Sunderland, on December 22, 2015. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and told to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.
