MEN and women flexed their muscles to become weightlifting champions at a push and pull competition.
Twenty competitors entered Saturday’s Yorkshire and North East Powerlifting Federation lift off, held in Durham Amateur Rowing Club’s boat house as they bid to become divisional champions.
Organiser Jim Dulling, chairman of Durham Powerlifters, said: “Some of the strongest men and women in the North of England did some big lifts.
“It’s popular so that’s why we keep coming back.
“It was a great day. People were very happy with the weight they were lifting and almost everyone went home with a trophy.”
The event welcomed competitors the categories of benchpress lift off and deadlift lift for men and women and offered various weight classes.
