A CANCER charity thanked volunteers who collected for its work.
The collection in Chester-le-Street was held on March 16 and raised £693 for Marie Cure Cancer Care.
The money will help the charity continue its work helping people in the region with terminal illnesses and their families.
A charity spokeswoman said: “We would like to thank everyone who turned out with a silly hat and a tray of daffodil pins to appeal to shoppers to contribute to the local work of the palliative care charity.
“Whether they were able to give an hour or a few days, by generously donating their own time and energy, the charity’s volunteers were able to encourage more people to donate to the collections, supporting local patients and families.”
