TEN YEARS ON: Miller set for wing role, no go for Dudek

WIDE BOY JOB OK: Tommy Miller expects to be asked to fill in on Sunderland’s right wing again when Birmingham City visit the Stadium of Light tonight.

And he says that’s fine by him, even though his preferred position has always been central midfield.

He said: “I’ve played on the right for Ipswich Town quite a few times in the past, so it’s a position I’m familiar with and I’m happy to give it my best shot.”

NO SWOOP FOR DUDEK: Claims that Sunderland were trying to persuade Liverpool’s out-of-favour keeper Jerzy Dudek to move to Wearside have no basis in truth.

It was reported in sveeral newspapers that Niall Quinn was hoping to bring in the Polish keeper as the club’s number one, with Ben Alnwick dropping down to second choice.

But the chairman/manager is happy to nail his colours to the mast and say that the 19-year-old Alnwick would be his first-choice keeper in he campaign ahead.
