TWO teenagers have been arrested after stones were hurled from a bridge in Washington.

A 15-year-old boy escaped serious injury after he was hit on the back of head by a stone thrown from Victoria Viaduct, in Fatfield.

It happened at about 6.15pm on Monday.

Police arrested two boys aged 15 and 17 on suspicion of assault. They have been bailed pending investigations.

Acting Neighbourhood Inspector Lee Butler said: “Incidents like this have the potential to cause someone serious harm. Whether stones are being thrown at passing pedestrians or passing motorists, it is incredibly dangerous and simply won’t be tolerated.”
