Teenager in court accused of city slashing attack

A MAN has appeared in court in connection with an alleged Christmas Eve slash attack outside a nightclub.

Thomas Charles Ratcliff, 18, of St Luke’s Road, Sunderland, is charged with four counts of wounding with intent and another of attempted wounding with intent.

He appeared before Sunderland Magistrates’ Court.

Police said three male teenagers were injured, with two of them sustaining slash wounds to their arms and the third suffering facial wounds.

All three were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment.

Northumbria Police said since then a fourth victim has been identified.

The incident happened at 4am in Holmeside, in Sunderland city centre.
