HERE’S Miss Sunderland looking every inch the beauty queen as she prepares to represent the city at Miss England.
Philippa Attle, 17, won the title at a hotly-fought contest last month and is now undertaking a series of photo-shoots and beauty boot camps ahead of the country’s biggest pageant on July 19.
While most of her fellow A-level students from Park View Community School in Chester-le-Street will spend their summer holidays relaxing, Philippa is making preparations to bring home the Miss England crown.
Philippa, from Chester-le-Street, said: “I’ve been really busy since winning Miss Sunderland.
“I’ve just come back from a boot camp where I met the other finalists.
“They were all lovely, it was interesting to get an insight into who will be there on the night.
“I’m nervous for the final, but excited too.
“There’s not many people who can say they’ve been a finalist in Miss England.
“I’m not really a competitive person, but I think it will be a fantastic experience.
“Hopefully it will open a lot of doors for me.”
Philippa will be the youngest contestant in the final when she competes against more than 60 beauty queens from across the country in rounds such as the Eco Round, the Talent Round and Miss Photogenic.
One of Philippa’s first official jobs as Miss Sunderland was to take part in a photo shoot for Collinson Jewellers at Scott Spock Studios which will feature in a Miss England magazine.
In the photos, she sports jewellery by Stephen Webster, who has designed pieces for the likes of Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez.
The Sunderland business, based on Crowtree Road, is sponsoring the teenage beauty queen in the contest and she has become the face of Collinson Jewellers for a year.
Harry Collinson, part-owner of the store, said: “Philippa stood out for us to sponsor because she is so natural.
“I was speaking to Miss England at the Miss Sunderland final (who was one of the judges) and she said that Philippa doesn’t realise just how naturally pretty and elegant she is. She is so humble.
“I think she stands a great chance at winning Miss England.”
Last year’s Miss Sunderland, Tamzin Cummings, 20, from Ashbrooke, is returning to the Miss England finals this year where she will be competing as Miss Modelzed.
