A TEENAGER involved in the street robbery of a girl’s mobile phone has been spared jail – after three months in custody.
Durham Crown Court heard how three other people were linked with the attack in Chester-le-Street last October but only Lee Sheraton faced charges.
The court heard one witness to the robbery thought they saw a knife – although no weapon was recovered.
Sheraton, of Fifth Street, Chester-le-Street, admitted robbery.
Recorder Bill Lowe said that because Sheraton, 18, had been in custody since the incident he was able to pass an alternative sentence to jail.
Recorder Lowe passed a 12-month community order with supervision.
Sheraton will also be subject to a six-month curfew from 7pm to 7am.
