Teachers dressed to impress for World Book Day

Staff at a Wearside secondary school dressed to impress as part of World Book Day.

The staff from the English department at Kepier Academy in Houghton, donned their costumes to celebrate the day with an international literature festival.

Teachers were joined by many of the Year 7 students who dressed as their favourite hero or villain for the day and took part in a number of workshops.

Dave Brennan, marketing manager at the Dairy Lane school, said: “Reading books is a vital part of encouraging and stimulating children’s minds, and something English teacher, Natalie Hodgson, and the other staff put a great deal of work into.

“We do this every year and it is an event much enjoyed by both staff and children.”

As well as taking part in book-related activities in the library, there was also a competition for the best costume.
