The impressive Stavros S Niarchos which sailed into the River Wear, last week, will leave the port today.
The vessel visited the city to give people a taste of what is to come when it hosts the Tall Ships Races in 2018.
The two-masted brig is the largest to have been built in the UK in the last century and was commissioned in 2000.
She is 200ft long (197ft/59.4m) and has masts rising to nearly 150ft (148ft/45m).
The ship, berthed at Corporation Quay, had been due to leave the port at 2pm, however, will now leave at 11am.
