Talk about generation Europe

Have your say

ARE you a member of Generation 1992?

The European Commission is calling on young people born in 1992, the year the single European market was launched, to enter a competition.

Prizes include a trip to Brussels, Inter-rail passes, cameras and iPods.

To enter, youngsters must creatively express what it means to them to be part of the single European community, where there is free movement of people, goods and services between member countries.

They can enter by writing an article or submitting photographs, cartoons, videos or apps for mobile devices.

Entries must follow one of four themes: education and citizenship; jobs and entrepreneurship; culture and leisure; and consumers and the environment.

Europe Direct North East, hosted by Durham County Council, is promoting the competition.

Brian Stobie, Europe Direct manager at Durham County Council, said: “This is a chance for young people to get creative and express what it means to them to be part of a wider community.”

Visit, or call Europe Direct North East on 383 3448. The closing date is September 9.
