CONCERNS have been raised over plans for a city centre takeaway to open longer.
Brothers Sadeck and Javed Amin have applied for permission to keep Urban Oven, in Claypath, Durham City, open until 3am Monday to Saturday and 1am on Sunday.
A previous attempt to secure a late licence was rejected by Durham County Council, but Javed Amin said he had attracted 800 signatures in support.
But Frank Newton, vice-chairman of the St Nicholas Community Forum, said prolonging the city’s “drinking culture” would make things even worse.
“We must have the dirtiest city in England,” he added.
