And the club's head coach has plans to transform the winger into an out-an-out striker.

Sunderland first had a bid rejected for the striker in the January transfer window with the Swans unwilling to sell to one of their relegation rivals.

But Ayew - who topped the Swans goal chart with 12-goals - would be allowed to leave south Wales if they receive a suitable offer.

"I hope he stays. I don't know, but we have discovered other good characteristics with him," said Guidolin.

"He says he is not a striker and he is a midfielder but in my opinion he is a striker. He is also a good false nine.

"He is a big player, but his attitude is good. He is an important player, but he is quiet, a good guy."

Swans chairman Huw Jenkins would listen to offers in excess of £15million for Ayew, according to reports but Guidolin is keen to keep hold of him.
