Support for Sunderland carers

Have your say

THE parents of disabled children are being urged to take the opportunity to find out more about a Sunderland support scheme.

Staff from the Carers’ Breaks and Opportunities Scheme (CBOS) will be at Silksworth Community Pool, Tennis and Wellness Centre on Wednesday, from 10am to noon to give parents of disabled youngsters the chance to find out more information during the summer holiday session. CBOS offers carers the chance to take a break from their caring responsibilities, or take part in activities of their choice that will help to maintain or improve their quality of life. It can also provide care to the cared-for person whilst the carer is away from their responsibilities.

The scheme offers lots of opportunities, such as funding for breaks, courses for leisure or learning or even for driving lessons to enable the carer to meet the needs of their caring role.

CBOS is open to adult carers, parent carers, young carers and groups and decisions are based on individual circumstances not income.
