Supermarket thugs attack security guard during foiled raid

Police are appealing for information about an attempted robbery in Sunderland.

At 11.54am on Wednesday, December 12, two security guards were filling the cash machine at Lidl on Roker Avenue when they were approached by three men who knocked one of the security guards to the ground and tried to take the money from them.

The men then ran off empty handed in the direction of Bright Street.

The men are described as being in their 20s, all wearing hooded tops. One of the men was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, the other two men were wearing black tracksuit bottoms.

No one was injured.
