Sunderland's Tall Ships adventure remembered with library artwork
Fulwell Community Library held a competition, funded by Sunderland City Council North Area Committee, involving eight Wearside schools.
Organisers asked for the best Tall Ships inspired short story between 50 and 150 words and the best piece of artwork all to be displayed in the library.

Hide AdJudges were impressed with the standards of entrants and prizes were presented to Fulwell Infants School and Seaburn Dene School.
The prizes were presented by Councillor Margaret Beck and Joan Waggott at Fulwell Infants and Coun Beck and Anne Matters at Seaburn Dene School.
All three ladies are library volunteers.
The library also offered vouchers for the Bridges of £25, £15 and £10 to the winning entrants.
The Library Tall Ships celebrations included bunting and banners around the Blue Bell area with nautical signal flags.

Hide AdMuch of the bunting was made by local people and drew much positive comment from visitors.
The Library was also proud that one of its young volunteers Cameron Peattie was chosen to sail as a trainee on the Atyla.
Cameron chose a class B ship with a smaller crew so that he could get more experience of sailing.
Cameron was sponsored by Sunderland City Council.
