Sunderland youngsters take on the mannequin challenge

The students at Thornhill School Business and Enterprise College decided to stage their own mannequin challenge.

All of the year groups were gathered in the outdoor area for a balloon release to mark the school's 50th anniversary when they decided to stage the challenge.

Mannequin challenge is the new social media craze which is sweeping the nation and across America with Hillary Clinton, Destiny’s Child, the X Factor’s Honey G and even This Morning taking part.

It’s being branded the new ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’, but instead of ice being poured over people they pretend to be frozen in time.

Teenagers from the USA started off the viral movement last month and stars of the big screen took part in it when they visited the White House.
