The Black Cats are scheduled to meet the Toffees at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, March 12.

But Everton’s progress to the FA Cup quarter-finals – they will meet Chelsea on the weekend of March 11-14 – will force Sunderland into a postponement of the league game.

The call-off will mean that Sunderland have more than two weeks between the visit to Southampton on March 5 and the derby at Newcastle on Sunday, March 20.
