Everton have lost key defender John Stones to Manchester City for around £50million and are now lining up replacements, with Kone and Swansea City defender Ashley Williams both wanted by the Toffees.

An £18million move has been mooted for a player who cost the Black Cats just £6million in January – and reports suggest the defender has already travelled to Merseyside.

It’s not just outgoings dominating proceedings, however.

Sunderland have been scouting Norwich City striker Steven Naismith – a player well known to David Moyes from their time at Everton.

Sunderland’s chief scout Mick Doherty was at Ewood Park on Saturday to watch Naismith play against Blackburn.

Norwich won 4-1, with the forward scoring the fourth goal for Norwich, and Moyes could be tempted into reuniting with the Scot.

Moyes remains keen on Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj too, and is keen to snap up the 21-year-old on loan.

However, reports stated that Turkish outfit Besiktas are also interested in signing Januzaj, who spent last season out on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
