As part of the Armed Forces Weekend, on June 27, 28 and 29, events will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Winston Churchill.
Paul Jasper, one of the organisers of the event, said: “The aim of the celebrations is to invite the general public to come together as a community, in support of the men and women who serve and carry out amazing work in our Armed Forces.
“As tax payers to the Armed Forces, this event allows us to recognise and celebrate a great asset that this country has at its disposal.
“It continues to be the finest and best trained organisation around the world, we believe this is something as a nation we should be proud of, by getting involved in celebrating sends a strong signal of support to all our men and women who serve.”
The celebrations start on Friday, June 26, with serving members and veterans taking part in a flag-raising ceremony.
Saturday will kick off early with the gates opening at 10am for activities, and a military parade at 1pm.
Paul said there will be lots of entertainment and side stalls, including an old style village fate provided by scouts from Sunderland and Washington.
Families will be able to enjoy a host of activities as well as entertainment such as singers, dancers and kick-boxing displays.
Paul said: “This year, on the Saturday evening from 6pm till 9pm, we are holding our Armed Forces Concert, this will be a flag-waving sing-a-long similar to the last night at the proms, allowing all the great people of this area to come together and be patriotic in our massive marquee.”
The weekend celebrations will finish off on the Sunday with lots more activities and fairground rides and performances.
