TWO would-be popstars were pipped at the post in a national competition.

Teenagers Sophie Leigh and Olivia Lawson beat competition from thousands of entrants to perform at London’s O2 Arena, in the TeenStar 2013 National Grand Final on Sunday.

Unfortunately, the talented pair were both beaten to the winning prize in the 13 to 15-year-old category.

Olivia, 16, from The Broadway, Sunderland, and Sophie, 15, from Usworth Hall, Washington, were among less than 20 finalists from 9,000 entrants who got through to the finals and performed on the London stage.

The TeenStar competition for teens and pre-teens travels the UK in search of the best singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres.
