Sunderland target Andre Ayew 'too important' to Swansea City, insists Francesco Guidolin

And Swansea City head coach Francesco Guidolin has again insisted they have no intention of selling the Ghana international, with Guidolin labeling Ayew 'too important' to sell.

Ayew joined the Welsh club on a free transfer from Marseille last summer and he is Swansea's top scorer this season with eight goals, netting the winner in Guidolin's first game in charge, the 2-1 victory at Everton last Sunday.

When asked about his future ahead of the transfer window closing at 11pm on Monday night, Guidolin was adamant.

"Yes, he will be a Swansea player," Guidolin said.

"He is important for us, he is a good player.

"He is too important for our team (to leave)."

Sunderland have been tracking Ayew and Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy, with the latter keen to leave the Emirates to play regular first-team football.

Allardyce has confirmed Sunderland have made an enquiry, although he insists that any deal has not progressed further than that at present.

But he appeared to pour cold water on Sunderland's chances of landing Ayew after Swansea rejected a bid earlier this month and have repeatedly insisted that the Ghana international is not for sale.

Allardyce said: "Have we given up? Yes.

"I cant see Swansea selling Andre Ayew."
