Sunderland survival - wins needed for Liverpool, Everton and Aston Villa

Sunderland need revenge against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Back in September two goals inside the first ten minutes condemned the Black Cats to a 2-0 defeat on the South coast.

In was another bad day in a very bad start to the season.

It didn’t help that Younes Kaboul was also sent off.

The match was watched by 11,271 fans. There will be about 30,000 more than that at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, the majority hopefully roaring Sam Allardyce’s men to victory.

But what other results do we want to see this weekend?

Norwich v Liverpool. Hopefully Jurgen Klopp’s first team players will be well rested after sitting out their FA Cup replay win against Exeter. The Reds. including Sunderland old boys Jordan Henderson and Simon Mignolet can do their former team a big favour with a win at Carrow Road.

The Canaries have been busy in the transfer market – I’m hoping former Everton man Steven Naismith won’t be getting one over the Toffees’ city rivals.

Crystal Palace v Tottenham: This has no bearing on the relegation fight, but for some reason a defeat for Alan Pardew’s Palace might be welcome.

Leicester v Stoke: Hard to believe this is a clash between second and seventh in the Premier League, but both have bought and built well. Could be a draw.

Manchester United v Southampton: With Saints on 30 points, it seems impossible that they could be dragged into a relegation battle (though I believe Watford - on 29 points - could). Maybe a draw for me - to keep the doubt going over LVG.

Watford v Newcastle: The Hornets are on the slide and could be the team that drops like a stone into trouble. A draw’s the best bet here (hard though it is to ay it), with a Sunderland win moving the Black Cats two points closer to both.

West Brom v Villa: Are Villa capable of a revival? Really? This game looks like a home win but it’s a bit of a derby so who knows? An away win would keep the Baggies looking over their shoulders. The more who can be dragged into the fight the better!

West Ham v Man City: Sixth v third - who really cares?

Everton v Swansea: Everton are on 29 points but are too good to get themselves into trouble. We need a home here, and a few goals from Lukaku.

Arsenal v Chelsea: Top v 14th - who’d have thought it! Sunderland are yet to entertain Chelsea in the last home game of the season. Will both sides still be battling relegation? Hopefully only the Blues. A Gunners win on Sunday please!
