Sunderland Sunday League: Last-gasp Mason saves best for last as Victory Club stun Comrades

Pennywell notched early, but Wearmouth levelled through Greg Davison before Mason stole the show and the points. Rob Calvert starred.

Sunderland Railway Club were the latest club to give Lakeside SSC a thumping as they ran out easy 6-0 winners.

Anth Rogerson finished with a hat-trick and Brad Timm added another couple, before Ricardo Cabezas hit the sixth. Dan Callaghan starred, with Brendan Harford best for Lakeside.

Mill View CIU celebrated a much-needed win after overcoming Cherry Tree 2-1.

Sean Brook and super sub Steven Conlin did the damage, with Carl Longstaff hitting his customary goal for Cherries. David Raeper shone for Mill, Michael Coates for Tree.

Jordan Stevens continued his excellent goalscoring form with another hat-trick as Washington Colliery won 4-0 at Martin Telfer Carpets.

Johnathan Roberts added the fourth to make sure Colliery increased their lead at the top. Wayne Henderson shone for the Carpetmen.

Hendon Athletic recorded back to back wins after putting AFC Wearside to the sword, 5-1.

Non-stop star man Tommy Scott hit two worldies, while Jesse Cutter popped up with another goal and Kev Golightly increased Hendon’s lead.

Richard Wright replied for Wearside, but Michael Donaldson completed Athletic’s success.

The Stella were back to their best with a thumping 8-1 win over New Town.

Gavin Teasdale, Ross Topping and Kris Lawton all scored twice, with Alex Fife and Martin Rutter adding the rest.

New Town were no match, but Andy Laidler rifled home their consolation. Lewis Jopling stood out.

O’Brien Waste Recycling gave leaders Hylton Castle TWR a run for their money in a 3-3 Premier Division thriller and were unlucky not to take all three points.

Billy Harrison put the relegation-threatened Wasters in front with a great finish, but Hylton rallied and Danni Lay fired a double.

O’Brien, with Andrew Kibble starring, hit back and took the lead with goals from Steven Anderson and David Taylor, but victory was snatched from their grasp as Lay completed his hat-trick to rescue a point.

With the unfortunate news of the legendary Silksworth Paragon having to fold, they did get the chance to merge with Farringdon ISL and now renamed Farra Paragon ISL.

RCA Grangetown Florists had plans to steal their visitors’ limelight, though, and a single goal from Andy Place sealed a 1-0 win.

Kyran Whitehead starred for Farra, with Mark Robinson best for RCA.

TS Potters consolidated second place with a massive 2-1 win at third-top Southwick, leaving them just three points off top spot.

Dan Martin and James Cassidy scored the vital goals, while Keiron Martin responded for Southwick, who just could not secure a second goal.

Brett Gillatt starred for Southwick, while Kyle Young shone for Potters.

Farringdon Detached put another nail in the coffin of The Ashbrooke as they narrowly won 4-3.

Davey Stevens hit a brace, on his comeback from injury, then Willie Crew and Jake Baker finished the scoring. Peter Greenwell, Stuart Burton and Jordan Cotter replied as Ashbrooke made a game of it.

A brilliant Kieran Davies hat-trick earned Ryhope Foresters a 3-1 win at Myers, who had Adam Drysdale on target. David Sanderson was Myers’ star man.
