Sunderland Sunday League: Fenton at the double to give Lansdowne survival boost

Cam Fenton’s excellent brace set the home side on their way, but Hylton gave them a scare as Clark Stead notched a hat-trick.

Victoria Gardens are still leading the pack and they put another three points on the board with a 6-1 demolition of Ryhope Foresters.

Callum Hope was at his finest, hitting the net twice and earning the star man award. Liam McBryde, Alan Golightly, Lee Pearce and Richard Jordan made sure of the win, while Ben Summers reduced the deficit. Lewis Gibson was Foresters’ top man.

RCA Grangetown Florists are going about their job quietly and progressing further up the table into third place after a 2-1 defeat of Farra Paragon ISL.

Chris Thompson and Andy Place scored the decisive goals, with Harry Wood replying later for Farra, who are in danger of dropping out of the top flight.

Southwick continued to pile the pressure on the leaders with another victory, 3-0 against Silksworth CW, who finish the season in bottom spot.

Michael Coghlan popped up with two absolute crackers to set up Southwick, and league legend John Butler hit the third. Azz Croft was excellent throughout, while Ramshaw shone for relegated Silksworth.

Josh Farquhar’s brace wasn’t enough for TC Plastics, as SR Dons edged a 3-2 success thanks to Lewis Herron and two-goal Nath O’Neill.

Kings Arms ran out easy 4-1 winners over Millfield Free Gardeners in the only Third Division match.

Carl Young, Shaun Barras and a couple from man of the match Ian Whelan downed the Gardeners, with Ryan Miller replying for Gardeners, who have finished their season but could still be relegated.

Ryhope CW’s relegation from Division Two was confirmed by an epic 5-4 defeat to Myers.

They matched the stalwarts of Myers but they were on the wrong side of the scoreline.

Jamie Johnson, Peter Benson and a double from Lewis Storey pushed Myers to the end, but the hosts won it thanks to Niall Palmer (2), Craig Richardson (2) and Mick Smith’s winner.

Callum Head’s goal for Willow Pond wasn’t enough as The Park advanced to the Billy Pemberton Memorial Cup semi-finals with a 4-1 win.

Gales, Patterson, Fairley and Cutter all netted.

Ryhope sealed a place in tomorrow’s Third Division Subsidiary Cup semi-finals after beating Wearmouth CW Juniors 2-1 in Group A.

Mutimer and Middlebrook scored in either half before Hollern replied for Wearmouth.

Washington New Tavern clinched a top-two spot in Group with a dominant 6-2 win over Wear United.

Doleman struck twice and Barnes stood out for United, but Tavern had too much for them and the goals flowed from McIntyre (2), Neal, Teasdale, Allen and Trewitt.
