Sunderland Sunday League: Fabulous Foresters send Southwick packing in Premier shock

Southwick led with Stokell’s goal, but Foresters responded brilliantly as Anth Young scored twice, with Kieran Davies and a beauty from Dale Spence sealing a fine victory.

Chris Thompson and Mark Robinson struck to ensure Silksworth CW’s first defeat as RCA Grangetown Florists won 2-0 at Meadow Park. John Hope-Hindmarsh shone for Silksworth.

Farra Paragon ISL produced an excellent performance to pip title hopefuls SR Dons 4-3.

Paragon only had the bare 11, so manager Paul Frame dusted his boots down to make an impact.

Dan Makin (2), Andy Middleton and local legend Luke Page won it, with Hall and Diamond among Dons’ scorers.

The Lansdowne endured a second successive heavy defeat, 6-1 at Hylton Castle TWR Group.

Liam Wooton fired three, Tom Callaghan hit a brace and Marc Moon made it six. Star man Brid Thompson notched for Lansdowne.

An excellent, late winner from Edison Perekosifa sealed three points for Wearmouth CW Juniors as they beat Park View 2-1 in Division Three.

Sam Robinson scored for View and Chris Hollern replied.

Ryhope walloped Millfield Free Gardeners 10-0, helped by doubles from Chris Hutcheon, Matty Frost, Robbie Middlebrook and Jayden Ellis.

Tony Mallam and Myles Nelson also struck, while Gardeners didn’t even register a shot on target. Keeper Alex Davies was their top man.

Millfield Oddies were brought back to earth after their emphatic win the previous week.

Washington New Tavern battled their way to a 2-1 win. Paul Maw had Oddies in front, but goals from Shaun Davies and Conner Stoddart clinched the win.

Penshaw CC outgunned Wear United 4-1. with two-goal Ryan Priestman, Jon Snelling and Kris Kane on target. Steve Walls responded.

Luckless Hendon Athletic’s poor form continues as they lost 3-2 to Cherry Tree in Division Two.

After dominating majority of the first half, Athletic fell behind to a sucker punch and Freeman nipped in at the near post to poke home.

Steven Trow finished well after a defensive mishap for 2-0, but Hendon rallied after making changes, with Carter and Connor proving a handful.

Connor hit the post and Anth Carter rounded the keeper in style to slot home.

Longstaff increased Cherries’ lead to 3-1 with a well-taken header, finishing a good counter-attack.

Dean Machin got it back to 3-2, and Hendon disputed the referee’s decision to rule out Adam Wasey’s last-minute equaliser.

Shaun Conlon is in great form and it showed as he hit another hat-trick to lead Grange Park home 4-1 against AFC Wearside.

Nath Crighton increased the home lead, while Matty Rose scored for Wearside.

Willow Pond heaped more misery on AFC Donkins as they ran out easy 7-2 winners.

Grant Carr and Callum Head hit braces, followed by a Jake McDermott hat-trick. Slee and Smith struck for Donkins.

Pennywell Comrades silenced the Myers enthusiasts with a comfortable 3-0 win.

Shaun Muncaster, Aidan Goodey and Jon Greener did the damage. Paul Bell stood out for Myers.

Ashbrooke Hendon secured an important 4-3 win over Washington Colliery to move third in Division One.

Dillon Holden, David Newby, Keith Reay and Neal Atkinson fired past Kevin McCluskey in the Colliery goal. Jonny Roberts hit two and an own goal kept the visitors in it, but they couldn’t find an equaliser.

Thorney Close Inn are beginning to lose the grip on the league after going down 4-1 to Oddies.

Andy Chambers scored in either half, then Daz Green and Robbie Yoxall put Thorney out of their misery. Collins hit a late consolation.
