Sunderland Sunday League: Dazzler Dixon's treble stuns Penshaw with Westmount rescue act

The visitors were cruising at 3-0 thanks to goals from Sean Williams, Kris Kane and Liam Binks against the hosts’ 10 men of Westmount.

But Matty O’Neill was given his marching orders for Penshaw, giving Westmount hope. They soon took advantage as Dixon bagged a well-taken hat-trick to rescue an unlikely point.

Hot-shot Dan Pattison hit four goals as The Park demolished Millfield Free Gardeners 8-0.

Phil Conlin backed that up with a hat-trick and Connor Gales hit the last. Alex Davies was star man between the stickers for Gardeners. Lewis Fairley shone for Park.

Both sides deserved plaudits after Park View edged a thriller 5-4 at Wear United.

View took a 2-0 lead in 10 minutes thanks to efforts from Clark Robinson and Jack Callaghan.

Mick Smith was on hand to reduce the deficit and Steven Barnes soon hammered home a leveller.

Reece Benson converted from close range as View regained the lead, but Mike Smith equalised with the goal of the game, a beautiful scissor kick from an inviting Scott Stevenson cross.

Benson restored View’s lead, and though Richie Morton looped a tidy header over the keeper for 4-4, View won it when Daniel Nkemjika hit a great 25-yard pot-shot to find the bottom corner.

The Dolphin endured another heavy defeat as their bare 11 couldn’t cope with youthful Wearmouth CW Juniors.

Craig Williams (2), Chris Hollern (2), Gary Stoker and star man Samson Adekola steered Wearmouth home 6-1, with Karl Hodgson replying.

Silksworth Catholic Club beat Millfield Oddies 3-0 to stay in the mix for promotion.

Ian Donkin netted again, with Eddy Wood and an own goal making it three. Ryan Pearson shone for Oddies, with Michael Nicholson best for the hosts.

Grange Park made it 13 wins on the spin to sit six points clear at the top.

TC were beaten 5-2 as Nathan Crighton, Lee Smith, David Sloanes and a Shaun Fisk brace made easy work of the visitors. Carl Young netted twice in reply.

Ryhope New Railway battered Railway Tavern 5-0 to show they are on the right track.

Sam Thompson, Lee Patton, Robbie Middlebrook, Jack McConville and Kieran Nixon all scored against the bottom club, with Chris Hutcheon starring.

Hendon Athletic’s League Cup dream came to an abrupt end as they went down 5-1 to local rivals Victoria Gardens in the quarter-finals.

Adam Wasey put Hendon in front as they took advantage of their first-half dominance.

Callum Hope equalised and the Vics’ clinical finishing brought doubles from David Paul and Martin Hope to kill off Athletic. Gabriel Tawiah stood out for Hendon.

SR Dons earned a semi-final spot with a tight 2-0 win at RCA Grangetown Florists.

Florists had the early chances, but Dons keeper Anth Clark was on top form. John Noble scored soon after RCA’s dominance faded and it was game over as Denver Morris added a late second.

Southwick and Ashbrooke Sports Club both moved into the quarter-finals with convincing wins.

It was men against boys as mighty Southwick demolished 10-man Board Inn 11-2.

League legend John Butler had a finishing masterclass with a five-goal haul and brilliant all-round display. Debutant Paul Muir added a hat-trick, with Michael “Chip” Bulmer and Ash Davis (2) also netting. Jordan Dagg and Liam Houghton grabbed consolations against the odds.

Ashbrooke Sports Club saw off Pennywell Comrades 5-1 in a one-sided tie.

Luke Hellens (2), Swinney and a John Hope-Hindmarsh double saw Ashbrooke home, with Corlett replying.

The Lansdowne looked like the Premier Division team as they progressed in the Total Sport Challenge Trophy with a 2-0 win at The Ashbrooke.

Tommy Alderson and Lewis Lynch scored in each half to send the First Division high-fliers through. Rhys Jukes starred, with Adam Walton replying.
