In front of a capacity crowd at the Duck, the Southwick superstars fired eight goals past the Hendon side, who had great support, on the back of 27 goals in their previous two games.

Burton House threatened an upset with an early penalty from Kevin Humble, and they added to their scoreline through David “Busta” Paul and Martin “Ghandi” Hope.

But it was to be Southwick’s day and, after they replied to the visitors’ goals, they ran away with the game.

Ash Davis ran the show in central midfield but was overshadowed by a Micky Coghlan hat-trick.

Brett Gillat ruined the full-back to grab two goals, while Andy Brown and a clinical Anth Ross goal added to the tally.

But the hero of the day was Anthony Stokell, aka Turkey, who found the net with a great finish and celebrated in style with his own chicken dance to wow the crowd.

Keith Lonsdale was Burton House’s top performer.

SR Dons put up a magnificent effort but saw their Durham County Sunday Cup dreams dashed by a shoot-out defeat after a dramatic quarter-final.

Sean Sweeney and two-goal Leigh Guthrie notched for Dons, but they weren’t enough to sink Newton Aycliffe Locomotion in an entertaining game which ended 3-3.

The tie went straight to penalties, and Dons - the league’s last survivors in the prestigious competition - missed the most important one to let Locomotion through to the semi-finals, 5-4 in the shoot-out.

Ross Gardner was Dons’ star man.

In the semi-finals, Locomotion are at home to Jarrow Robin Hood Perth Green, while Stockton Hardwick SC entertain Hartlepool Lion Hillcarter.
