Is Sunderland the stingiest city for Halloween?

Along the festive fuss these days, many children are hoping to fill their pockets with goodies when trick or treating around their neighbourhoods.

However, some UK cities are stingier when it comes to delivering the goods to trick or treaters, a study has found.

Research released by comparison site OnBuy.com reveals the average amount of money every city spends for sweets on Halloween.

Across the UK 65 cities have been surveyed and Sunderland, came up to be one of the most stingiest city in the UK, spending a meagre average of £2.50.

Eve,11, from Sunderland said: “Least year when trick or treating, I was given some pennies by one lady. I expected sweets not money! It seemed a lot of people had forgotten Halloween was coming and had no sweets for us.”

Most generous cities in the chart turned out to be Leeds, spending £16.40, where 55% of young residents will go trick or treating, Colchester and Bristol came 2nd and 3rd.
